Spring and Summer Programming for All Ages!

Virtual Dryland Programming – for all ages

Alberta Amateur Speed Skating Association (AASSA) continues to monitor the ever-evolving situation with the COVID-19 pandemic. The health and safety of everyone in our speed skating community is important to us.

We are pleased to announce that we have developed virtual dryland programming that keeps our members active, provides them direct virtual access to a coach and connects skaters from all over our province. This program will run for 12 weeks beginning the week of April 27, 2020.

Program Details & Fees

The Zoom platform will be used by our lead coach Tonny de Jong, Olympian and two-time European Allround Champion. Participants will receive a weekly program (sent by end of day Sunday). A weekly virtual session will be hosted by our lead coach. Throughout the 12-weeks, you should expect guest appearances by Alberta-based coaches and National team members. Provincial team members will also contribute along the way -  be sure not to miss a session!

The weekly programs will be tailored to the participants’ abilities and experience with dryland training. Teamsnap will be used as a communication tool between our lead coach and participants.

  • Fees for T2T/Jr skaters:
    • $120.00 per person for 12 weeks (36 sessions)
    • Zoom sessions will be held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 17:00-18:00
  • Fees for L2T skaters:
    • $50.00 per person for 12 weeks (12 sessions)
    • Zoom sessions will be held on Wednesdays from 16:00-17:00

For every registration, Alberta Speed Skating will donate $20 (T2T/Jr program) or $10 (L2T program) towards the Conquer COVID-19 organization ( This organization is comprised of physicians, business leaders, entrepreneurs, and other volunteers who are working together to ensure frontline workers responsible for the health and well-being of Canadians have access to masks, gloves, and other supplies that are essential in treating patients and minimizing the spread of the virus.

We look forward to virtually connecting with many of you. If you have any questions about these programs, contact us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
