Virtual Dryland Programming – L2T ( 8-11) & T2T/Junior (12+)

Alberta Amateur Speed Skating Association (AASSA) is pleased to announce the continuation of our online dryland sessions for the 2021 Spring and Summer!

We are pleased to announce that we are offering creative, developmentally appropriate, virtual dryland programming that keeps our members active, provides them direct virtual access to coaches and connects

skaters from all over our province.

This program will run for 12 weeks:  May 17 - August 8, 2021

Phil Riopel:  Phil was on the Canadian National LT team for 9 years and in those years he competed in 23 World Cups, went to 3 Junior World Championships and the World Single Distance Championships in 2011.  Phil was the fastest Junior in 2008 in the 500m, where he also set the Junior World Record for the 1000 and 1500m distances.  He is still the current record holder for the 1000m distance.  He has lots to share with our T2T group!

Thomas Meline:  Thomas has a Masters (Kinesiology), is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach, has trained with the French National ST Team, was the Assistant Coach for the French Junior National Team and is currently a member of the Oval LT High Performance Program.  He as a wealth of experience and knowledge to share with our T2T group!

Brendan Yamada:  Brendan is currently training with the Oval Stage 4 ST Program and has proudly worn the Maple Leaf, representing Canada in Holland and Italy.  He has competed in many high level Canadian competitions and is currently enrolled in the Comp Dev SSC coaching course.  Brendan's favorite distance is the 500m.  He has been coaching for the past three years and is guaranteed to provide very engaging and energetic sessions for our L2T group!

Participants will receive a weekly program (sent by end of day Sunday). All weekly virtual sessionS will be hosted by one of our coaching team.

Throughout the 12-weeks, you should expect guest appearances from Alberta-based coaches and National team members. Provincial team members will also contribute along the way - be sure not to miss a session!

The weekly programs will be tailored to the participants' abilities and experience with dryland training.

• Fees for T2T/Jr skaters:

o $120.00 per person for 12 weeks (36 sessions)

o Zoom sessions:  Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 17:00-18:00

• Fees for L2T skaters:

o $50.00 per person for 12 weeks (12 sessions)

o Zoom sessions:  Wednesdays from 16:00-17:00

Further instructions will be provided once registration is complete and payment is received.

For every registration, Speed Skating Alberta will donate $20 (T2T/Jr program) or $10

(L2T program) to assist our clubs with providing financial assistance to families in need, so more children have access to our sport.
