2. Oval Changes
From Kameron Kiland, Director Olympic Oval
As everyone is aware, the Olympic Oval’s current financial situation has been affected by the recent recession and in the past couple of months we have been dealing with a shortfall to our budget due to the loss of revenue normally generated through the CODA/WinSport fund.
Due to this shortfall and some organizational changes, three Olympic Oval staff have been released of their duties.
Karrie Kreutz, Director of Events, Marketing and Communication, has been an employee with the Olympic Oval for more than 20 years, Moira Marshall, Director of Sport, has been in her role for the past three years, and Debby Fisher, Speed Skating Development Coordinator, has been with the Olympic Oval for more than 10 years.
All three full time staff members have contributed significantly to the Olympic Oval facility, staff, athletes, programs and events and their skills, ideas and personalities will be missed.
Over the next couple of weeks the Olympic Oval will meet with staff members in the Marketing, Events and Communications and Programs departments to develop an effective working plan for all affected staff.
As that plan is being developed, please address all Program questions to Sean Ireland and all Events questions to Liane MacNeil. Catriona and I, along with the other staff members of each department will support and take on job responsibilities to aid Sean and Liane with their additional work load.
All athletes and coaches will be able to address their questions to Catriona or Sean Ireland.
